20-millionth TV from Foxconn Slovakia

Almost 20,000,000 flat panel TVs have been produced by Foxconn Slovakia, spol. s r.o. The jubilee 20-millionth TV was off the production line on this day at the manufacturing plant in Nitra. It was a 65-inch Sony model with a 4K resolution.

Since 2010 the Nitra Company Foxconn Slovakia has produced twenty million flat-panel Sony TVs. If we also take action under the original name of Sony Slovakia since 1996, the total production is closer to 30 million TVs. According to company plans, this milestone will be reached in early February 2018. Foxconn Slovakia supplies all European markets, the Middle East countries (e.g. Turkey, Israel, and United Arab Emirates) and also the markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States with its production of Sony TVs.

While in 2010, the 32 to 40 inch televisions were the centrepiece of production, today it is 55 to 65 inch TVs.

The dynamics of the development of the TV market suggests a changing portfolio of dimensions: while in 2010, the 32 to 40 inch televisions were the centrepiece of production, today it is 55 to 65 inch while the largest TVs produced in Nitra have a dimension of 85 inches. Over the past seven years, TV technology has also undergone significant changes: instead of HD Ready, nowadays the 4K TVs are produced, and the OLEDs have been added to the LCD panel TVs. The novelty of the year 2017 in Foxconn Slovakia was OLED TV with unique Acoustic Surface technology, broadcasting sound directly via the screen. It is the only OLED TV on the market and the interest of customers shows that they appreciate the technological innovations – it is the best-selling OLED TV among all brands.

Spoločnosť Sony začala svoje televízory na Slovensku vyrábať v roku 1996 v Trnave pod názvom Sony Slovakia. V roku 2007 sa produkcia presunula do Priemyselného parku v Nitre. V roku 2010 v rámci globálnych zmien prevzal produkciu v nitrianskom závode svetový elektrotechnický gigant Foxconn, vyrábajúci produkty pre popredné svetové značky. Názov spoločnosti sa zmenil na Foxconn Slovakia, spol. s r.o., základom výroby však naďalej zostali produkty pre značku Sony, pričom podnik vyrába aj plošné spoje SMT technológiou. Spoločnosť aktuálne zamestnáva takmer 2000 pracovníkov a okrem produkcie sa opiera o prepracovanú logistiku a výkonný inžiniering.

Foxconn Slovakia je druhým najväčším elektrotechnickým podnikom v Slovenskej republike, ôsmym najväčším slovenským exportérom a desiatym najväčším výrobcom. Je zároveň najväčším podnikom v Nitrianskom kraji.
