FOXCONN SLOVAKIA WILL START PRE-SERIES PRODUCTION FOR AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY THIS YEAR
20. June 2022
The company will produce printed circuit boards for headlight modules for vehicles. The new production will expand the plant’s main production program, which includes LCD and OLED TVs and printed circuit boards manufactured using SMT technology and used in TVs.
“Our research and development department is actively involved in the development of products for new customers in the automotive industry, and we will also ensure the production itself. Our other added value is more than 25 years of experience in the production of electronics and printed circuit boards,” said MD of Foxconn Slovakia Peter Hrčka.
Serial production for the automotive industry will run on a new fully automated production line for the production of printed circuit boards using SMT technology. The line will consist of automatic assembly machines, an automated X-ray inspection system, a soldering furnace, component magazines and an automatic printed circuit board separator.
The investment in technology procurement amounts to EUR 4.78 million. The Slovak government plans to support it with an amount of nearly EUR 0.6 million if the investment conditions are met. The company plans to create 20 new jobs for the automotive industry.
Foxconn Slovakia announced its interest to enter the automotive segment two years ago. Last year, it expanded the team in Nitra by research and development department. Subsequently, the company received the necessary certification, which was a prerequisite for new contracts. Within the supply chain in the automotive segment, Foxconn Slovakia operates at the Tier 2 level, as one of the subcontractors.
